Avanzan gestiones para evitar la intervención minera en el Parque Andino Juncal

El gobernador Mundaca anunció que el sitio es un área Ramsar, así que está protegido por la ley de biodiversidad y áreas protegidas, lo que impide cualquier intervención extractivista.
Autoridades regionales y locales se congregaron en la cordillera de Los Andes, donde recibieron noticias alentadoras sobre el futuro del Parque Andino Juncal, el cual pretende ser intervenido por la empresa minera Nutrex SpA. Por ello, se están realizando las gestiones necesarias para proteger el ecosistema del lugar, que es una fuente vital para el suministro de agua en la región.
En este sentido, el gobernador regional, Rodrigo Mundaca, señaló que “este es un sitio Ramsar, y como tal existe una ley de biodiversidad y áreas protegidas, entonces estos sitios no son susceptibles de ningún tipo de intervención extractivista. Por tanto, es una muy buena noticia. Forma parte también de la estrategia de defensa del parque Andino Juncal, que estamos desarrollando en conjunto”.
Por su parte, el alcalde de Los Andes, Manuel Rivera, destacó los avances en la conversión del parque en un área protegida permanente, indicando que “los propietarios legales han tomado medidas para evitar la exploración minera, y al mismo tiempo estamos preparando un nuevo expediente que presentaremos al Ministerio de Medio Ambiente. Estos avances son realmente emocionantes y nos acercan cada vez más a nuestro objetivo”.
Por último, Manuel Millones, consejero regional, comentó que “de acuerdo a las reuniones que hubo con la ministra de Medio Ambiente y la buena noticia es que esa herramienta está en nuestras manos en el Consejo Regional y prontamente vamos a reingresar el plan intercomunal y ahí vamos a grabarlo como parque, de modo tal que efectivamente esa figura impide cualquier tipo de proyecto minero y además protege a perpetuidad este espacio maravilloso”.
