«Basta con la guerra, basta con los ataques, basta con la violencia, que haya diálogo y paz», exclamó el pontífice tras el ataque de Irán a Israel.
El papa Francisco lanzó hoy un «llamado urgente» para evitar «una espiral de violencia con el riesgo de arrastrar a Medio Oriente a un conflicto bélico aún mayor» y pidió a la comunidad internacional que ayude a israelíes y palestinos a vivir en «dos Estados vecinos».
«Hago un llamado urgente para que se detengan todas las acciones que puedan alimentar una espiral de violencia con el riesgo de llevar a Medio Oriente a un conflicto aún mayor», expresó Francisco.
«Nadie debe amenazar la existencia de otro», dijo el pontífice, que sigue con «preocupación y también dolor» los acontecimientos tras el ataque de Irán a Israel.
Medio Oriente afronta un momento de máxima tensión después del ataque a Israel por parte de Irán, que lanzó anoche más de 300 drones y misiles balísticos que no dejaron víctimas, pero supone el primer ataque de ese tipo desde suelo iraní.
«Todas las naciones se pongan del lado de la paz y ayuden a los israelíes y palestinos a vivir en dos Estados, lado a lado, con seguridad, es su profundo y lícito deseo y su derecho. Dos estados vecinos», aseguró tras el rezo del ‘Regina Coeli’, que sustituye al Ángelus en periodo pascual.
«UN RÁPIDO CESE AL FUEGO EN GAZA»
Desde la ventana del Palacio Apostólico y ante los miles de fieles reunidos en la plaza de San Pedro, Francisco también abogó por «un rápido cese al fuego en Gaza» y para que «se recorran las vías de la negociación».
Asimismo, el pontífice instó a que «con determinación se ayude a la población precipitada en una catástrofe humanitaria y se libere rápidamente a los rehenes secuestrados hace meses. ¡Cuánto sufrimiento!, recemos por la paz».
«Basta con la guerra, basta con los ataques, basta con la violencia, haya diálogo y paz», pidió Francisco, cuyo llamado fue acogido con aplausos en la plaza.
La Presidencia italiana del G7 ha convocado este domingo una videoconferencia con los líderes de las siete democracias más ricas del mundo para discutir el ataque, mientras que el Consejo de Seguridad de la ONU celebrará una sesión de emergencia a petición de Israel.
