John Kirby, portavoz del Consejo de Seguridad Nacional de Estados Unidos, dijo este domingo que el presidente Joe Biden busca evitar una guerra amplia en el Medio Oriente, en una entrevista con Fox News.
«Cada decisión, cada discusión que ha tenido está diseñada para no permitir que esto se convierta en una guerra regional amplia, y ahí es donde todavía está su cabeza», apuntó Kirby.
En otra entrevista este domingo con la cadena ABC, Kirby señaló que cualquier respuesta al ataque iraní del sábado por la noche depende de las fuerzas israelíes y volvió a enfatizar en que Biden no quiere que Estados Unidos se vea involucrado aún más en el conflicto.

Por su parte, Biden le dijo al primer ministro israelí, Benjamín Netanyahu, durante una llamada ayer que Estados Unidos no apoyará ningún contraataque israelí contra Irán, según medios locales.
El ministro de Exteriores de Irán, Hosein Amir Abdolahian, volvió a advertir este domingo a Estados Unidos que en caso de que sus bases militares en los países de la región de Oriente Medio sean utilizadas para «defender y apoyar» a Israel, «inevitablemente» atacará esas posiciones.
